Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple

The Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple in Varanasi is a significant Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman, known as "Sankat Mochan," meaning "reliever from troubles." Founded by the revered poet-saint Sri Goswami Tulsidas in the early 16th century, the temple is located on the banks of the Assi River, believed to be the site where Tulsidas had a divine vision of Hanuman.

The Sankat Mochan Foundation, established in 1982 by Mahant Veer Bhadra Mishra, focuses on environmental conservation, particularly the cleaning of the Ganges River. The foundation has collaborated with international organizations and celebrated milestones such as the "Swatcha Ganga Abhiyan" for over 25 years.

Additionally, the temple hosts the annual "Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samaroh," a classical music and dance festival that has been celebrated for decades, featuring prominent artists from across India.
